Fast and Furious 6 Review

This summer of huge blockbusters continues with director Justin Lin’s latest addition to the Fast and Furious franchise. Since its premise in 2001, the series has slowly transformed, starting out as entertainment for street-race enthusiasts to now an international mega-heist franchise.

The newest release follows Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) as he tries to find his girlfriend Letty (presumed dead in the fourth installment) who now works for international crime boss Owen Shaw (Luke Evans). Returning stars include Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Sung Kang and Tyrese Gibson.

As a whole, the film was fantastic. The actors have a certain chemistry that transmits through the screen building upon the underlying themes of family and friendship. Like it’s immediate predecessor, Furious 6 is filled with gravity-defying stunts that would make Physics majors tear up. The action scenes are quick and hard. There is also some comic-relief to give some balance, while making sure to not overdo it (*cough* Hellboy II *cough*).

This is an amazing movie that would leave you amazed and hoping for more. (July 11, 2014. Mark it.)
